KID ROCK Announces Christian Music Album 'Halfway To Jesus', Shares First Single 'James 1:17 (Jesus Is King)'
October 2, 2026Kid Rock will release a new Christian music album titled "Halfway To Jesus" on October 17. The official music video for the LP's first single, "James 1:17 (Jesus Is King)", can be seen below. The clip, which was filmed at Kid Rock's Honky Tonk in Nashville, is dedicated to Rock's longtime keyboard player Jimmie Bones, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2024. The video is also dedicated to Kalvin Lynch, a Kid Rock fan with an inoperable brain tumor, whose Make-A-Wish was to play drums with Kid Rock.
"Halfway To Jesus" contains 17 songs, including "7 Sins", which features a guest appearance by Eminem, and "Halfway 2 Jesus", which features country singers Gary LeVox (RASCAL FLATTS) and Jimmie Allen.
Eminem was previously featured on Kid Rock's 1998 breakthrough album "Devil Without A Cause", on the track "Fuck Off". Kid Rock later was featured in the music video for Eminem's 2013 single "Berzerk".
"I'm proud of the guests who joined me, especially my old friend Eminem," Kid Rock wrote in the "Halfway To Jesus" foreword, according to Complex. "His verse speaks to something we've talked about and that really needs to be heard: we differ politically and on other things, but we've stayed friends through it all.
"We hope that sets an example for people who've lost friends or stopped talking to family because they think differently," he added.
In August, Kid Rock spoke about his inspiration for making a Christian music album, telling "Fox & Friends": "Growing up Catholic and going to Catholic church, I was always like, 'I have to confess this is boring. This music is terrible. And I'd go to Baptist churches and non-denominals just looking for the music that I wanted to hear and there's some good stuff, but it was always a little bit of this dark place. So I decided to write the songs that I kind of wanted to celebrate Jesus and my faith with, which are rock 'n' roll, country, hip-hop."
Rock's official web site, kidrock.com, is currently selling a number of "Halfway To Jesus"-related items, including religious-themed t-shirts, jackets, hats, license plates, a license plate holder, sunglasses, a candle, a "holy water flask," a "stash box" designed to look like a bible, a prayer journal and a gold cross necklace.
"Halfway To Jesus" will be Kid Rock's first new album since 2022's "Bad Reputation", which peaked at No. 124 upon release in 2022 and fell off the chart one week later, marking the worst-performing studio album of his career.
The U.S. country-rocker, whose real name is real name Bob Ritchie, is a vocal supporter of U.S. president Donald Trump and has performed at Republican-affiliated music gigs, sat next to Trump at football games and received invitations to the White House.
This past February, Kid Rock headlined a counterprogrammed halftime show dubbed "The All-American Halftime Show", run by conservative advocacy group Turning Point USA at the same time Bad Bunny took the Super Bowl halftime show stage.
